Canned tuna in oil

"This is a practical training product manufactured using processing techniques and hygiene management knowledge cultivated in specialized classes in marine food products. The raw material used is albacore tuna caught by the Navigation Technology and Marine Engineering course students during their tuna longline fishing training off the coast of Hawaii. Students in the Marine Food course divide the roles by year, and the entire process, from dismantling, steaming, cooling, cleaning, cutting, meat packing and weighing, to adding soybean oil and salt, vacuum sealing, sterilization, cooling, and labeling, is completed in one place. We paid attention to details such as how the tuna is packed so that the cross-section of the tuna is beautifully visible when the can is opened, and the careful application of the label without wrinkles, making this a product that is packed with the fruits of our learning. The black-based label design, which has a slightly luxurious feel, was created in collaboration with students from Miyazaki Prefectural Sadowara High School." Canned mackerel in brine

"This is a canned mackerel in brine, made using the 'Tsumoto-style ultimate blood draining' method, which has been a hot topic in recent years. We received direct instruction from the inventor, Mitsuhiro Tsumoto, and carefully processed each fresh spotted mackerel one by one. This process preserves the freshness of the fish for a long time and greatly reduces rigor mortis and fishy odor. After processing, the head, tail, and belly are cut off, the internal organs are removed, and the fish is thoroughly washed. The flesh is cut to the height of the can, weighed, and then carefully packed one by one so that the cross-section looks beautiful when the can is opened. Salt and water are added, the can is sealed, sterilized, cooled, the expiration date is printed, and a label is attached to complete the product. This is a product that combines the latest technology with the dedication of our students." (Department of Marine Science / 2nd year / Ryukai Ninagawa, Koji Mizumoto, Tatsumasa Sugimoto)

Miyazaki Prefectural Miyazaki Marine High School

This specialized high school in Miyazaki City focuses on fisheries and marine science, offering practical learning opportunities in a wide range of marine-related fields, from ship operation and machinery to aquaculture and food processing. "Under the slogan, 'Learn from the sea, open up the sea, and spread your wings to the world,' this school offers diverse opportunities for growth. In addition to specialized learning in courses such as navigation technology, engine engineering, marine resources and environmental utilization, and marine food, we have a wealth of experiential classes using the training vessel Shinyo Maru and the latest training equipment. Our school's unique appeal also lies in our research activities in collaboration with local fisheries and companies, as well as our efforts in disaster prevention and relief. We have an environment where students can acquire practical skills while cooperating with their peers and challenge themselves in both higher education and employment. Marine club activities, such as the cutter club and yacht club, are also active, and we put effort into posting on social media such as Instagram and TikTok."
