Enjoy the geometric architecture and the panoramic views that unfold in all directions.

Nihondaira, a 307-meter-high hill formed by dynamic land uplift and sea erosion, is home to the Nihondaira Yume Terrace, an observation facility and aerial walkway offering panoramic views of Mount Fuji across Suruga Bay, Shimizu Port below, and the Izu Peninsula and Southern Alps in the distance. Architect Kengo Kuma, inspired by the Yumedono Hall of Horyuji Temple, challenged himself to create a geometric octagonal structure. Looking up at the ceiling of the top floor of the observation facility, one can appreciate the structural beauty of the building, with its beautiful wooden beams radiating outwards using traditional joinery techniques. The aerial walkway, approximately 200 meters long, seamlessly connects to the observation facility, allowing visitors to experience both the architecture and the dynamic surrounding topography simultaneously. Using locally sourced cypress and cedar wood from Shizuoka Prefecture, the walkway exudes a warm, forest-like atmosphere.
