The Oki Islands of Shimane Prefecture, floating in the Sea of Japan, have been designated a UNESCO Global Geoparks in recognition of their unique geology and topography, as well as the ecosystems and human activities that have developed within them. The accommodation facilities that serve as a base for tourism to the islands consist of existing facilities that have been partially renovated and a new building constructed using the latest architectural technology. The most impressive feature is the view of the "Dozen Caldera" from the windows of the guest rooms in the new building. Stepping into the minimalist rooms, a unique landscape unfolds before your eyes. Frameless windows that are fixed from floor to ceiling, and windows that frame the landscape like a picture, reveal the island's unique volcanic depression known as the "Dozen Caldera" beyond.
