This 3710Lab original frame is made entirely from marine plastic (buoys and fishing nets) derived from fishing. The design was created by product designer Daisuke Kitagawa. The frame was designed with the idea that the artwork placed inside is the main focus, and the frame is merely a format. The structure is simple, with the frame secured by a single string. It was inspired by the simple and rational act of handling tools from the sea. The material is made from recycled fishing gear, with the cooperation of REMARE, a material manufacturer in Toba City, Mie Prefecture, that upcycles marine plastic and other waste plastics to create new value. The finishing is handled by Sasaki Kogeisha in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, which specializes in wooden crafts, and recycled fishing net materials from Morito Apparel are used for the fasteners. Due to the characteristics of the manufacturing process, air bubbles are easily trapped in the wood, and the texture is not uniform, but this is intentionally utilized as part of the product's charm, minimizing the use of scraps and waste materials, so each piece has a different look.
